		Ayler Upbeat Windups Dikko Faust has provided these transcriptions of Ayler’s ‘Upbeat Windups’. Dikko explains: “This began comparing Spirits Rejoice & Infinite Spirit and expanded. Every example starts with an upbeat dominant (fifth) resolving to the tonic downbeat of the first measure of a song, tune, anthem, carol, nursery song, bugle call. A very common device, for Ayler as well as everyone else. A technical name for this musical device is ‘dominant pickup’.”
